Which Black Knight manifold should I pick?

What's the A2L refrigerant transition?

The HVAC industry is moving from high-GWP HFC refrigerants (R-410A) to lower-GWP A2L refrigerants (R-32 in mini-splits since ~2018, R-454B in new residential systems since 2025). A2L = mildly flammable (lower ignition risk than A3 hydrocarbons but higher than non-flammable HFCs). The transition period means you'll service both R-454B new installs AND R-410A legacy systems for the next 15+ years. This manifold covers both, plus R-32 — one tool for the whole transition window.

What does "Class 1.6" gauge accuracy mean?

Class 1.6 is the European Standard for analog pressure gauge accuracy — readings are within ±1.6% of full scale across the operating range. For a 500 PSI gauge, that's ±8 PSI. This is the professional service tier (Class 2.5 is consumer-grade, Class 1.0 is lab-grade). Class 1.6 gives you the precision needed for proper subcool / superheat charging without the cost of lab-grade gauges.

What refrigerants is this manifold for?

This set ships pre-calibrated for R-32, R-410A, and R-454B — the A2L transition refrigerant set. R-454B is the new A2L residential A/C standard (Carrier, Trane, Lennox systems built from 2025 forward). R-410A is the dominant legacy refrigerant in the existing residential install base. R-32 is the standard A2L mini-split refrigerant globally. For commercial refrigeration (R-134a / R-404A / R-407C / R-507), hydrocarbon (R-290 / R-600), or R-1234YF mobile A/C, see the dedicated Black Knight manifolds.

Can I use these hoses on a different manifold body?

Yes — the HCPRO Dual Force hoses use standard 1/4″ SAE connections and fit any HVAC manifold with the same fitting standard (which is most professional manifolds on the market). You can buy replacement Black Knight hoses separately if you want to upgrade an older manifold body without replacing the gauges.

Can I replace just one gauge if it breaks?
