R-32, R-454B, R-1234yf — the only oil chemistry that works with HFC + A2L systems. PAG and mineral oil don't return to the compressor and cause failure.
Synthetic polyol ester blended to industry-spec moisture and acid numbers — controlled-environment packaging, same plant every batch
Available in ISO VG 32 (most HVAC, automotive A/C) and ISO VG 68 (heat pumps, heavy-duty commercial refrigeration)
Industry-standard chemistry for HFC and HFO refrigerants — what every modern compressor was designed for
Wrong oil after a retrofit =
compressor failure inside a year.
USA-manufactured synthetic polyol ester (POE) for the refrigerants every modern HVAC tech actually services. PAG and mineral oil are NOT compatible with HFC (R-410A, R-134a) or A2L (R-32, R-454B, R-1234yf) refrigerants — they don't return to the compressor and cause burnout. Available in ISO VG 32 and ISO VG 68 — pick the grade your OEM calls for.
Right oil for modern refrigerants
HFC refrigerants (R-410A, R-134a, R-404A) and A2L refrigerants (R-32, R-454B, R-1234yf) require polyol ester chemistry to maintain compressor lubrication. PAG and mineral oil don't return to the compressor with these refrigerants — they pool in the line set and the compressor runs dry. POE is the industry-standard fix.
Universal compressor compatibility
Works in hermetic, scroll, rotary, and piston compressors across residential HVAC, commercial refrigeration, mini-splits, VRF systems, and automotive A/C. ISO VG 32 covers most R-410A and automotive A/C compressors; ISO VG 68 for heat pumps and heavy-duty commercial refrigeration. Match the OEM's specified viscosity.
USA-made, lab-spec'd
Manufactured in the United States to industry POE oil performance standards. Moisture content controlled to <50 ppm (critical — POE is hygroscopic), acid number <0.05 mg KOH/g, flash point ≥464°F, pour point -43.6°F. Moisture-sealed, UV-protected packaging.
Full Product Description
Synthetic POE refrigeration oil ISO VG 68 for heat pumps, heavy-duty commercial refrigeration, and high-pressure HFC/A2L systems. Higher-viscosity polyol ester chemistry where standard ISO VG 32 won't hold film strength — the right answer when the OEM service spec calls for VG 68.
HCPRO Performance RPO-68 is a premium polyol ester (POE) refrigeration oil with ISO VG 68 viscosity (~68 cSt at 40°C, ~8.5 cSt at 100°C). Moisture content controlled to <50 ppm, acid number <0.05 mg KOH/g, flash point ≥240°C, pour point -42°C. Compatible with R-410A, R-32, R-1234yf, R-134a, R-404A, R-407C, and A2L blends. Works in hermetic, scroll, rotary, and piston compressors.
Who this oil is for
Heat pump technicians (most heat pumps spec ISO VG 68). Heavy-duty commercial refrigeration contractors. HVAC techs servicing large rooftop units, walk-in coolers, and process refrigeration. Anyone whose system OEM specifies ISO VG 68 instead of VG 32.
When to use it
During compressor refill after evacuation on systems specifying ISO VG 68. Common in heat pumps, large commercial refrigeration, and certain industrial scroll/rotary compressors. Always verify the OEM service spec — running VG 32 in a VG 68 system causes premature wear under load; running VG 68 in a VG 32 system increases drag and reduces cooling efficiency.
Why RPO-68 vs RPO-32 or PAG/mineral
RPO-68 for heat pumps and heavy commercial — higher film strength under high pressure. RPO-32 for most HVAC, mini-splits, automotive A/C. PAG is for legacy R-134a automotive only. Mineral oil is NOT compatible with HFC/A2L refrigerants and will cause compressor burnout.
Available in quart (32 oz), gallon (128 oz), 6-pack quart, 12-pack quart, and 4-pack gallon. Moisture-sealed packaging, 5-year shelf life unopened. Manufactured in the USA to industry POE oil performance standards.
What the lab measures, what the compressor cares about.
Manufactured in the USA to industry POE oil performance standards. Moisture content <50 ppm and acid number <0.05 mg KOH/g — the two specs that matter most for POE oil compressor protection.
The HFC and HFO refrigerants modern systems actually use.
POE is the industry-standard chemistry for HFC (A1) and HFO/A2L refrigerants. It's fully miscible with all of these and returns to the compressor reliably — unlike PAG or mineral oil.
Pour, recharge, run. Just keep the cap tight — POE absorbs moisture fast.

Does HCPRO warranty the products?
Yes — every HCPRO product ships with a 1-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. We'll replace the bottle if it fails to meet stated specs under normal use. See our full warranty terms.
Is POE oil compatible with R-410A and A2L refrigerants?
Yes. POE (polyol ester) is the industry-standard lubricant for HFC refrigerants like R-410A, R-134a, and R-404A, and is compatible with A2L blends (R-32, R-454B, R-1234yf). Never use mineral oil or alkylbenzene with these refrigerants — they don't return to the compressor and cause failure.
POE vs PAG — which one do I need?
POE is for HVAC and modern automotive systems running R-410A, R-32, R-454B, R-1234yf, R-404A, or R-407C (basically anything HFC or A2L). PAG is for legacy R-134a automotive A/C systems only. If your system is R-134a-only and the OEM calls for PAG, use PAG. For everything else, use POE.
Can I use POE oil in a mini-split or heat pump system?
Yes — POE is rated for mini-split, VRF, heat pump, central AC, and refrigeration scroll/rotary compressors. ISO VG 32 covers most R-410A and R-32 mini-splits and central AC; ISO VG 68 is what most heat pumps and heavy-duty commercial refrigeration require. Always verify the OEM's specified viscosity grade before refilling.
How much oil do I add after a flush or retrofit?
Match the compressor manufacturer's spec. Most residential R-410A scroll compressors hold 25–40 oz; mini-splits typically 8–18 oz; automotive A/C systems 4–8 oz. After a burnout flush, drain all old oil from the compressor first, then refill to OEM spec.
Will RPO-32 work in older R-22 systems?
Use POE only if you're retrofitting the R-22 system to R-410A or R-32. Standard R-22 systems use mineral oil — switching to POE without retrofit can change oil return behavior. POE is fully miscible with mineral oil during retrofit transitions, so it's the right choice when changing refrigerant.
Why is moisture control so important with POE oil?
POE oils are hygroscopic — they absorb moisture from the air much faster than mineral or PAG oil. Moisture in the system creates acid, which destroys compressors from the inside. Keep the bottle sealed until use, never leave POE oil exposed to atmosphere, and don't pour from a bottle that's been opened for weeks.
Will using HCPRO products void my OEM warranty?
No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975, an OEM cannot void your factory warranty for using compatible aftermarket fluids. RPO-32 is spec'd to meet industry POE oil performance standards (moisture <50 ppm, acid <0.05 mg KOH/g). If a dealer pushes back, contact us and we'll send the documentation.
Can I return an unused bottle?
Yes — free returns within 30 days for unopened bottles in original packaging. Opened bottles can't be returned for resale (chemical product, moisture exposure risk). Read our full return policy.
Do you offer bulk pricing for shops?
