Standard or Viton seal kit?

Standard rubber seals are fine for light-to-moderate recovery use. Viton seals resist refrigerant attack and heat far better — choose them if you run recovery hard, work with aggressive refrigerants, or want the longest interval between rebuilds. The Viton kit costs a bit more and pays back in service life.

Will it fit my recovery machine?

How do I know my recovery unit needs a rebuild?

Classic symptoms of worn compressor valves: (1) recovery takes much longer than it used to, (2) the unit won't pull into a vacuum at end of recovery, (3) reduced flow / weak suction, (4) the compressor runs hot and works hard for little result. These point to worn valve plates, reeds, and seals — exactly what this kit replaces.

How hard is the rebuild?

It's intermediate bench work — remove the compressor head, replace the valve plates/reeds/seals in the correct orientation, reseal and reassemble with the included gaskets. If you've done basic compressor service before, it's an afternoon job. The included insert covers the teardown sequence and valve orientation.

Is it really worth rebuilding vs replacing?

Almost always yes. A rebuild kit is a small fraction of a new recovery machine's cost, and the compressor body, motor, and housing are usually fine — it's only the valves and seals that wear. Rebuild and you've got a like-new recovery unit the same day for the price of the parts.

How long will the rebuild last?
